I'm not broken.
"I can't believe you."
"It shouldn't be like this."
"...Awful...Needs help..."
I'm not broken.
"You need to stop!"
"Why don't you want help?"
"It's wrong!"
I'M NOT BROKEN.
"Disgusting thing."
"I can't look at you."
"Why won't you act right?"
Stop trying to fix me.
"There's no way it will go away?"
"You need to DO something!"
"We'll do it ourselves. There's no other option."
Stop it.
"Get out!"
"Don't talk like that anymore."
"If we catch you again, I swear..."
STOP.
STOP.
STOP.
You won't though...
Because I'm not broken...
Not yet.

Same Sex
Cotton candy hair,
Beautiful girl
Shiny green eyes
Melting my heart
A day at a time
Love letters,
Sent through the mail
Gifts for my girl
A pillow in return
A bit of distance
Soon to end
Holding me close
Something to look forward to
Craving your lips
Wanting your kiss
My bed is empty
Big enough for two
Love,
Buried deep under fear
Something I find hard to accept
Loving someone of the same sex
You tell me not to be afraid
The voice of an angel
Is oh so convincing
Your arms spread like wings
Warming my heart
Almost ready,
To be who we are
A kiss from you
Something that is a trigger
My body would tremble
Maybe even shiver
Princess,

Gay Rights
I'm staring into your beautiful eyes,
As we sit away from the world,
What people say about us is only lies,
There's nothing wrong with me and you.
Gently I press my lips up to yours,
Knowing we'll never be treated the same,
But I won't hide behind locked doors,
My love for you is completely pure.
I know you're a girl, and I am too,
But if you were a boy it wouldn't be better,
You know it's true that I'm in love with you,
But we still aren't treated like that's so.
Hold me close and hold me tight,
We can't marry or be treated fairly,
But please, let's never give up the fight,
This moment is perfect and so wonderful.
But one day

I said Yes.
He said get out of my life
I guess it mattered.
My boss asked if I am gay
I asked Does it matter?
He said No not really
I told him Yes.
He said you're fired faggot
I guess it mattered.
My friend asked if I am gay
I said Does it matter?
He said No not really
I told him Yes.
He said Don't call me your friend
I guess it mattered
My lover asked Do you love me?
I asked Does it matter?
He said Yes.
I told him I love you
He said Let me hold you in my arms
For the first time in my life something matters.

Broken two ways. Broken like there is something wrong with one's soul, or broken like a shattered spirit - an animal broken and submissive.

Society tends to be quite critical of a lot of things these days, one would have thought homosexuality would have reached a level of acceptance by now but alas there still remain small minded fools who think it's wrong and needs to be 'fixed'. This notion is of course bygone to a broken age that itself is need of repair and for the most part one would hope has been fixed.
I found the repeated assertion of 'I'm not broken' to be particularly effective as it's battling tooth and claw with the clarion cries of 'no no you need to change' and all that milarcky. I find it somewhat inspiring that one is able to stand so adamantly against the source of objection and remain unbroken.
The last line however does show a sign of weakness, presenting a level of vulnerability which is present in all of us, adds to the empathy I feel which makes me feel all the more for the person in this piece.
So very good work I must say, keep it up and remember if it ain't broke don't fix it.
